SAFETY EVALUATION FOR GENERIC LETTER 83-281 ITEMS 4.5.2 AND 4.5.3, REACTOR TRIP RELIABILITY, ON-LINE TESTING \\TAC NO. 54009)
Generic Letter 83-28, Item 4.5, contains a staff position requiring on-line functional testing of the reactor trip system including independent testing of the diverse trip features of the reactor trip breakers.
By letters dated February 19, 1985 and July 1, 1985, Consumers Power Company responded to the staff position regarding Item 4.5.2. The response to Item.
4.5.3 was provided as part of the Combustion Engineering Owners' Group Reports*
CE NPSD-277 and CEN-327.
The NRC staff, with the assistance of the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory, has reviewed your responses and the CE Owners' Group reports and concludes that they are acceptable. The basis for our

reports EGG-NTA-7463 and EGG-NTA-8341.
We, therefore, consider Generic Letter.
