1. 0 PURPOSE 1.1 To assure compliance of production units of the Shock Arrestor Assembly with referenced drawings.

0 'COPE 2.1 This test establishes both visual and functional charac-teristics which could be expected to vary through dimen-sional variation or improper assembly and. adjustment.

.001 Dial Indicator 4.4 1801103 TF-1 Test Stand 4.5 1801103 TF-2 Test Stand 5.0 INDIVIDUALTESTS 5.1 Examination of Product 5.1.1 Each unit shall be subjected to a dimensional examination to determine compliance with appli-cable final assembly drawing.

5.1.2 Each unit shall be visually inspected to assure completeness of assembly, freedom from burrs and sharp edges, alignment of parts, security of fasteners, and dimensional integrity.

5.1.3 Units shall be visually inspected for general appearance of plating, painting, freedom from nicks and damage of finishes.

5.1.4 Units shall be inspected to assure the accuracy and legibility of marking and identification.

I6.0 'UNCTIONAI'ESTS Following tests will be performed with shock arrestors in-stallect on 1801103 TF-1 Test Stand.

OF OM 6.1 Proof 6.1.1 Load - 15,000 lbs.

With arrestor installed on test stand, move carriage to position I, or aft position, of test stand.

Lock inertia mass.

Set air pressure gage on air-hydraulic booster pump at 57 psi.

Actuate foot pedal or lever on booster

pump, applying 15,000 lbs. to the unit in the retracted position.

Hold pressure for appioximately 5 secs.

Release pressure and apply 15,000 lbs. in the extended position.

Again hold pressure for approximately 5 secs.

Release

pressure, dis-connect unit from aft position and move carriage to the forward position of the test stand.

Un-lock or free inertia mass.

(Note:

6800 psi 15,000 lbs.)

Failure. of arrestor to meet this portion of-the test shall be cause for rejection.

6.2 Breakawa Friction Test 150 lbs.

(Note: 37.6 psi on test stand gage

=

0 bs.)

6.2.1 With arrestor in position II on test stand and inertia mass in free state, secure arrestor with pin to clevis.

Breakaway friction shall be checked at 3 positions of scale, both extending and retracting, 4 inch from each end and one place in approximate mid-position of scale.

Failure of arrestor to meet this portion of test shall be cause for rejection.

QNQM 6.3 Acceleration Test 6.3.1 60 second clock box - Set power switch off.

Reset counter to'ero.

Set timer at zero.

Set timer running switch to the right.

Bell switch (top of box)'ay be on or off.

6.3.2 6.3.3 Speed control box - Speed control and torque con-trol dials should already by preset at maximum range.

Turn on power switch and motor run switch.

Load snubber into fixture (front and back) and secure properly with clamp.

Set the timer second hand to 30 seconds.

Turn power switch on 60-second clock to "on".

6.3.4 After time has elapsed (unit stop), turn power switch (top of 60-second clock) to "off".

Record reading from counter on appropriate form.

Reset counter.

6.3.4.1 Failure of arrestor to meet any portion of the test shall be subjected to further test on acceleration test fixture 1801TF-2.

If acceleration at this time. is less than

.51 sec. in 1.00 inch of travel,, the arrestor shall be rejected.

6.4 Lost Motion (.040 max.)

6. 4. 1 With carriage in position II on test stand, lock inertia mass and position arrestor in approximately mid-position of scale.

Secure indicator and engage to end cap of arrestor.

Apply a 150-lb. load in one direction and zero out the indicator.

Apply the load in the opposite direction and record lost motion.

Lost motion shall not exceed
