1.0 PURPOSE REPORT NO.

IT<<527 PAGE OF 1.1 To assure compliance of production units of the Shock Arrestor Assembly with referenced drawings and specifi-cations.

2.D SCOPE 2.1 This test establishes both visual and functional charac-teristics which could be expected to vary through dimen-sional variation or improper assembly and adjustment.

3.0 REFERENCE DOCUMENTS 3.1 PSCo Drawing 1801104 4.0 EQUIPMENT 4.1 Test Fixture 1801 HF-1 4.2 Load-Travel Fixture 1801104 TF-2 4.3 Chatillon Scale DP-25 5.0 INDIVIDUALTESTS 5.1 Examination of Product 5.1.1 Each unit shall be subject to a dimensional ex-amination to determine compliance with applicable final assembly drawing.

5.1.2 5.1.3 Each unit shall be visually inspected to assure completeness of assembly, freedom from burrs and sharp edges, alignment of parts, security of fasteners, and dimensional integrity.

Units shall be visually inspected for general appearance of plating, painting, freedom from

nicks, and damage of finishes.

5.1.4 Units shall be inspected to assure the accuracy and legibility of marking and identification.

(5.0 lbs. max. for PSA->+)

%ith the arrestor installed in the appropriate test stand, the breakaway friction shall be measured at 3 positions of the scale, both ex-tending and retracting, one half {4) inch from each end and one place approximately mid position of scale.

OF QG QD 6.1.2 Failure of arrestor to meet above requirements shall be cause for rejection.

6.2 Travel (4.0 min.for -05 and 2.5 min. for -07) 6.2.1 With arrestor installed in 1801 HF-1 Test Fix-ture in horizontal position, measure the travel from fully retracted to fully extended position.

Minimum travel shall'be 4.0 inches min. for -05 arrestors and 2.5 min. for -07 arrestors.

NOTE:

Travel check may be accomplished during the breakaway friction force check.

6.3 Acceleration - Load-Travel Test

QG QEQP 6.3.1 For -05 Units Onl - With unit installed in 0

TF-Test Fixture and in a fully extended position, apply a 200 lb. load to the shock arrestor.

With counter energized, release unit.

The 1.000 inch travel must not take less than

.51 second.

Repeat test from retracted position and again the time for 1.000 inch travel shall not be less than

.51 second.

For -07 Units Onl - With unit installed in 0

TF-Test Fixture and in a fully extended position, apply a 200 lb. load to the shock arrestor.

Energize counter and release unit.

The 1.000 inch travel must not take less than.51 second.

Repeat test from retracted position and again the time for 1.000 inch travel shall not be less than

.51 second.

6.3.2 Failure of arrestors to meet above requirements shall be cause for rejection.

6.4 Lost Motion Test

With arrestor installed in 1801 HF-'

Holding Fix-ture and in approximately the mid-position, attach an indicator to the forward end of the arrestor.

Apply a 20 lb. extended load to the arrestor; zero out the indicator and reverse the load.

The read-ing on the indicator shall not exceed

.030.

Failure of arrestor to meet above requirements shall be cause for rejection and the entire lot will be tested.
