Subject:

Withdrawal of License Amendment Request to Revise the Implementation Period for Salem Unit 2 License Amendment No. 294

Reference:

Letter from Charles V. McFeaters, "License Amendment Request to Revise the Implementation Period for Salem Unit 2 License Amendment No. 294," dated March 13, 2017 By letter dated March 13, 2017 (Reference), PSEG Nuclear LLC (PSEG) submitted a license amendment request for the Salem Unit 2 renewed facility operating license. The proposed change would have modified the implementation period for Salem Unit 2 License Amendment 294 from the Spring 2017 refueling outage to the Fall 2018 refueling outage. Amendment 294 revises the Salem Unit 2 Technical Specification (TS) for replacement of the Westinghouse source range (SR) and intermediate range (IR) instrumentation with new instrumentation supplied by Thermo Scientific.

Subsequent to the submittal, PSEG has determined that the replacement of the SR and IR instrumentation will proceed during the Spring 2017 refueling outage. As a result, PSEG is withdrawing the license amendment request submitted in the reference letter above.

There are no regulatory commitments contained in this letter.
