NINE MILE POINT NUCLEAR STATION UNITJlO. 2 - SAFETY EVALUATION FOR GENERIC LETTER 88-01, "NRC POSITION ON IGSCC IN BWR AUSTENITIC.
STAINLESS STEEL PIPING" (MPA B-097, TAC NO. 69148)
By letters dated July 28, 1988, November 1, 1989, and December 14, 1989, the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation (NHPC) responded to-Generic Letter 88-01 for Nine Mile Point Unit 2.
The NMPC response has been reviewed by the staff with the assistance of its contractor Viking Systems Internationa'I (VSI).
The Technical Evaluation Report (TER prepared by VSI is enclosed.
The staff concludes that the RMPC response is acceptable with the exception of five items as discussed in the safety evaluation enclosed.
We request that NMPC submit a
response to those issues within sixty (60) days of receipt of this letter.
The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements of this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore OHB clearance is not required under PL 96-511.
