1 - SAFETY EVALUATION FOR GENERIC LETTER 88-01 "NRC POSITION ON IGSCC IN BWR AUSTENITIC STAINLESS STEEL PIPING" lMPA B-097, TAO NO. 69147)
By letters dated July 28, 1988, August 25, 1989, September 6, 1989, and November 30, 1989, the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation (NMPC) responded to Generic Letter 88-01 for Nine Mile Point Unit 1.
The NHPC response has been reviewed by the staff with the assistance of its contractor, Viking Systems International (VSI).
The Technical Evaluation Report (TER) prepared by VSI is enclosed.
The staff concludes that the NMPC response is acceptable with the exception of three items as discussed in the safety evaluation enclosed.
We request that NMPC submit a response to those issues within ninety (90) days of receipt of this letter.
The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements of this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore OMB clearance is not required under PL 96-511.
