Oconee Nuclear Station, Units 1, 2 and 3 We have reviewed your letter dated November 4, 1983, "Required Actions Based on Generic Implications of Salem ATWS Events."
Item 4.5.2 of Generic Letter 83-28 required that plants not currently designed to permit periodic on-line testing to justify not making modifications to permit such testing.
Alternatives to on-line testing proposed by licensees will be considered where special circumstances exist and where the objective of high reliability can be met in another way. Based on our review, we have concluded that the reactor trip system reliability at Oconee Nuclear Station is acceptable. The details of our review are contained in the enclosed Safety Evaluation.
