NRC STAFF MONTHLY STATUS REPORT (REVISED)

In accordance with the Atomic Safety and Licensing Boards Initial Scheduling Order, dated August 26, 2013, and in light of the February 25, 2014 Order (Regarding Monthly Reporting),

the staff of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (Staff) is filing this revision to the monthly status report it filed on February 20, 2014 regarding its schedule for issuance of the Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (DSEIS), Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (FSEIS), Safety Evaluation Report (SER) with open items, and the final SER. The Staff now expects to publish the SER with open items in January 2015 and the final SER in May 2015. The Staff will update the Sequoyah license renewal application schedule on the NRC website shortly to reflect this information and provided this revised schedule to the applicant in a letter dated March 4, 2014 from John Lubinski, Director of the Division of License Renewal, NRC, to John Carlin, Site Vice President for Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Tennessee Valley Authority, which can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System via Accession Number ML14059A347. In the letter, the Staff explained that the January 2015 and May 2015 publication dates for the SER are predicated on receiving a response to its request for additional information (RAI) regarding the applicants reactor vessel internals program in October 2014.

Should the applicant respond to the RAI earlier, the Staff may publish the SER with open items and the final SER earlier. In accordance with the Boards Initial Scheduling Order, the Staff will apprise the Board of any change to the estimated publication dates.

The Staffs estimated dates for publication of the DSEIS and the FSEIS have not changed:

the Staff expects to publish the DSEIS in July 2014 and the FSEIS in March 2015.

Respectfully submitted,
