Request for On-site Audits of Detailed Control Room Design Review (DCRDR) for San Onofre Units 1, 2, and 3 Enclosed is an evaluation of the Unit 1 DCRDR Program Plan and a technical evaluation of the Unit 2 and 3 DCRDR.
Based upon the findings contained in the enclosures, which were prepared by our consultants from Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), we request that you arrange for an 2.5 day In-Progress audit of the Unit 1 DCRDR and a 1.5 day Pre Implementation audit of the Units 2 and 3 DCRDR during the week of July 14, 1986.
To facilitate the audits, we request that you make the following arrangements:
- 1. Ensure that DCRDR review team personnel are available and ready to discuss or respond to NRC staff questions during the audit.
- 2.
Be prepared to provide any documentation of the DCRDR results, including review materials such as task analysis work sheets, survey and/or inventory checklists, operator questionnaires and other completed data collection forms used in the DCRDR.
- 3.
Provide for access to the control room, remote shutdown panel and simulator for the NRC staff and contractors. The NRC staff also requests clearance to bring camera equipment on-site to take photographs at any of the above areas.
- 4.
Provide for conference or office space for NRC staff meetings with the DCRDR review team and for the NRC audit team's private use.
Following the audits, the staff will transmit to you an audit report for Unit 1 and a safety evaluation report for Units 2 and 3.
