Southern California Edison Company P.O BOX 800 2244 WALNUT GROVE AVENUE ROSEMEAD. CALIFORNIA 91770 F. R. NANDY TELEPHONE MANAGER OF NUCLEAR LICENSING January 6, 1989 (818) 302-1896 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attention:
Document Control Desk Washington, D.C. 20555 Gentlemen:
Subject:
Docket No. 50-206 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 The purpose of this letter is to reschedule the -submittal dates for several items which we have committed to provide the NRC. The efforts necessary to complete these items have been superseded due to-allocation of manpower to higher priority work such as the FSAR update and the licensing needs for the Cycle 10 refueling outage.
In our letter dated September 21, 1988, it was indicated that-Technical Specification revisions for Fire Protection would be provided to include the latest agreements reached with the NRC staff. The submittal is now expected to be provided by March 15, 1989.
By letter dated May 27, 1988 we informed the NRC that environmental qualification testing of the Nuclear Instrumentation System (NIS) would be completed by August 17, 1988 and a brief description of the testing would be provided. Final documentation of the testing did not occur until after September 16, 1988. This was discussed with the NRC Project Manager during the review of the NIS replacement. It was determined that this information would not be needed to complete the NRC review as long as it was documented as part of the Environmental Qualification Program at San Onofre Unit 1. The summary of the qualification testing will be provided to you by February 17, 1989.
By letter dated April 5, 1988, you.provided us with a copy of the Technical Specifications for San Onofre Unit 1 as maintained by the NRC. The purpose of this was to review and identify any differences between the NRC version of the technical specifications and the version maintained by SCE. An amendment application was requested to be submitted to the NRC that would resolve the differences. By letter dated June 17, 1988 we committed to provide the necessary revisions. The submittal will now be provided by March 31, 1989.
