DDI DIESEL CRANKSHAFT OIL HOLE CRACKING PROBLEM SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNIT NO. 1 (TAC NO. 65087)

In your letter dated February 21, 1990, you stated that it is your understanding that it is no longer necessary to notify the NRC of actions taken or planned to be taken in response to 10 CFR 21 notifications concerning TDI diesel engines.

In a letter dated June 17, 1985, the NRC requested that you submit these special reports pending resolution of the TDI engine reliability issues.

By letter dated November 21, 1989, the TDI reliablity issues were resolved by issuance of our safety evaluation.

Therefore, special reports are no longer required and your understanding regarding this matter is correct.
