Hoeg joins NRC resident inspector Martha Barillas.

Before being assigned to the Turkey Point site, Hoeg had served since 2005 as the senior resident inspector at FPLs St. Lucie nuclear power plant near Jensen Beach, Fla. Before that assignment, Hoeg was the senior resident inspector for four years at the Grand Gulf nuclear power plant near Port Gibson, Miss. Hoeg also worked as a resident inspector at the Calvert Cliffs nuclear power plant in Maryland.

He joined the NRC in March 1997 as a reactor engineer in the NRCs Region I office in King of Prussia, Pa. Prior to joining the NRC, Hoeg worked as a system engineer for Public Service Electric and Gas Co. at its Salem Generating Station near Salem, N.J., and he also worked as a shift test engineer for General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, Conn. Hoeg also served in the U.S. Navy and retired from the Naval Reserve in 2005.

Hoeg received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.

Tim Hoeg has the experience and dedication to carry out the NRC mission of protecting people and the environment by helping to ensure the safety of the Turkey Point plant, said NRC Region II Administrator Victor McCree.

At least two NRC resident inspectors are assigned to each operating U.S. commercial nuclear plant. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring major work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public. Resident inspectors can serve at a reactor site for up to seven years.
