ENCLOSURE OFFICE OF NUCLEAR REACTOR REGULATION REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY TRIGA REACTOR LICENSE NO. R-76 DOCKET NO. 50-27 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff is continuing the review of your application for renewal of Facility License No. R-76, dated June 24, 2002, as supplemented on June 13, 2008.

During our review, a question has arisen for which we need additional information and clarification. Please address and provide the requested information to the following:

NUREG-1537, Chapter 13, Accident Analysis recommends maximum hypothetical accident (MHA) dose analysis to the public. The MHA presented in the Washington State University safety analysis report, as supplemented, does not appear to discuss the dose to on-site non-occupational occupants of the Nuclear Radiation Center such as students, faculty, visitors, etc.

Please provide a dose assessment for the maximum exposed individual member of the public in the unrestricted area of the Nuclear Radiation Center for the MHA analyses. Please describe the assumptions used and any systems, plans, procedures or stay times for which credit is taken in the analysis.
