SUBJECT:

UNIVERSITY OF UTAH - DETERMINATION OF ACCEPTABILITY AND SUFFICIENCY FOR DOCKETING AND OPPORTUNITY FOR HEARING REGARDING THE APPLICATION FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH FOR THE RENEWAL OF THE FACILITY LICENSE NO. R-126 FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH TRIGA NUCLEAR RESEARCH REACTOR (TAC NO.

ME1599)

Dear Dr. Jevremovic:

By letter dated March 25, 2005, and supplemented by letters dated, June 1, 2009, February 9, 2010, March 10, 2010, May 13, 2010, May 27, 2010, October 4, 2010 (two letters), and June 8, 2011, the University of Utah submitted an application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for renewal of Facility Operating License No. R-126 for the University of Utah TRIGA Reactor (UUTR).

Based on the review of the application, the NRC staff has determined that the University of Utah has submitted sufficient information such that the application is acceptable for docketing in accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 50.33 and Section 50.34.

However, this determination does not preclude requests for additional information as NRCs review proceeds. The Notice of Acceptability for Docketing has been forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.

If you have any questions on this matter, please contact Mr. Geoffrey Wertz of my staff by telephone at 301-415-0893 or via electronic mail at Geoffrey.wertz@nrc.gov.

Sincerely

/RA/
