MD8135, MD8136 - State Consultation - Farley Nuclear Plant (FNP) Units 1 and 2) - Amendment regarding changes to times and frequencies of testing To:

Mr. Kirksey Whatley (as state liaison)

Director, Office of Radiation Control Alabama Department of Public Health 201 Monroe St.

Montgomery, AL 36130-1701 Contact information kwhatley@adph.state.al.us 334-206-5355 This message documents a call to your office on December 8, 2008 at approximately 8:38 am CT.

We are processing an amendment regarding requested changes proposed by the licensee to various test completion times, bypass test times, and surveillance frequencies for selected systems. The changes are described in detail in the licensee's application of October 27, 2008, and associated application supplements, and in the Federal Register dated July 8, 2008 (73 FR 39056). In its application the licensee proposed adoption of changes consistent with information contained in cited Westinghouse reports and contained in cited technical specification change documents that had been previously reviewed and approved by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). There were also some minor editorial changes. In arriving at its conclusions the NRC applied both deterministic and probabilistic review criteria.
