OF APRIL 23, 2008, ANNUAL ASSESSMENT WITH CONSTELLATION ENERGY On April 23, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., an Annual Assessment Meeting was conducted at the Joint News Center between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Constellation Energy (Constellation). The NRC requested this meeting with Constellation management to discuss the NRCs Annual Assessment of the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2 (Nine Mile Point) in 2007.
The NRC presented and discussed its assessment of the safety performance of Nine Mile Point for the period between January 1 through December 31, 2007. The NRC presentations included a discussion of the Reactor Oversight Process, and 2007 Nine Mile Point performance assessment results. As part of the meetings, Constellation presented an overview of their performance and initiatives in selected areas. Members of the public observed the meeting and were offered the opportunity to communicate with the NRC regarding Constellation's performance at Nine Mile Point and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
