SUMMARY

OF MAY 7, 2007, MEETING WITH ENTERGY OPERATIONS, INC.

AND INDIANA MICHIGAN POWER COMPANY ON THE METHODOLOGY FOR APPLYING AND IMPLEMENTING THE RISK-INFORMED INSERVICE INSPECTION PROGRAM VIA ASME CODE CASE N-716 AT GRAND GULF NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT 1, AND DONALD C. COOK NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 (TAC NOS. MD3044, MD3137, AND MD3138)

On May 7, 2007, a Category 1 public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of Entergy Operations, Inc. (Entergy)/Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (GGNS) and Indiana Michigan Power Company (I&M)/ Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2 (CNP), at NRC Headquarters, Two White Flint North, 11545 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the draft responses received from GGNS and CNP to the Requests for Additional Information (RAIs) from the NRC staff, in reference to their requests for the alternative to implement the methodology for applying and implementing the Risk-Informed Inservice Inspection Program via American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Case N-716 at GGNS and CNP. A list of attendees is provided as an enclosure.

There are two sets of RAIs for each submission from GGNS and CNP. The NRC staff discussed the draft response to each RAI question, asked for verbal explanations and clarifications for some draft responses from the GGNS and CNP, and indicated whether any of the draft responses need to be revised to include the explanations and clarifications. All RAI questions were discussed. The table below summarizes the discussion:

Item Item GGNS CNP No. No.

1 Set 1, Q 1(b): Identify which change in risk 1 Set 1, Q 1(b): Identify which change in risk estimate is the baseline estimate. estimate is the baseline estimate.

2 Set 1, Qs 2(a) and 2(b): Provide revised 2 Set 1, Q 6(a) and 6(b): Provide revised response addressing the use of core damage response addressing the use of CDF guidelines frequency (CDF) guidelines of 1.0E-6/year and of 1.0E-6/year and the absence of LERF the absence of large early release frequency guidelines.

5 Set 1, Q 3(b): Add CNP words about 1.0E-4. -----

RAI Set #1, RAI 3b. Grand Gulf should confirm that their internal flooding analysis indicated that the conditional core damage probability (CCDP) values of 1E-4 are indeed bounding estimates as used in the analysis in the submittal.

6 Set 2, Q 6: Provide additional figures/sketches 3 Set 2, Q 3: Provide additional figures/sketches in the response. Revise to address socket in the response. Revise to address socket welds.
