Dear Mr.Hughes:

This letter concerns revision of the technical specifications to make the requirements for the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Committee (NRSC) consistent between the Technical Specifications and the state radioactive materials byproduct license. This change was recommended by the NRSC and approved by the Rhode Island Atomic Energy Commission. Therefore, it is proposed that section 6.0.1 be changed to read the following:

a. The Director (non-voting)
b. The Assistant Director for Reactor operations (non-voting)
c. The Radiation Safety Officer (non-voting)
d. A qualified representative from the faculty of Brown University
e. A qualified representative from the faculty of Providence College
f. A qualified representative from the faculty of the University of Rhode Island
g. A qualified representative from the academic community of the State of Rhode Island.

A qualified alternate may serve in lieu of one of the above. The Director, Assistant Director and Radiation Safety Officer are not eligible to be Chairperson of the Committee.
