Additional questions re. your 11/15/02 amendment request (TAC MB6687, MB6703)

We are reviewing you application. We (Stephanie Coffin, Lambros Lois, and I) would like to hold a conference call with you in the next few days. Please contact me to establish the time and date.

The first issue was previously communicated to you by e-mail: Page 8 of 11, the middle of the longest paragraph, which says: "....However, in order to assist in the NRC staffs review.......by January 15, 2003......"

The second issue: The methodology used for the fluence does not appear to adhere to the guidance in RG 1.190 in spite of the claim in the submittal (Report No. MPM-59838). A couple of examples of the deviations are:

(1) Pg. 9, "The individual pin powers were not used .....The power profile was assumed to be flat over each assembly..."

(2) The calculation seems to ignore the presence of the jet pumps and pump risers. Likewise there is no indication of the relative location of the capsule (and possible effect thereof) on the pumps on the dosimetry.
