Conway Executive Vice President, Nuclear Gentlemen:

Thank you for your letter of October 24, 1991, in response to our Notice of Violation and Inspection Report Nos.

50-528, 529, 530/91-25, dated September 20, 1991, informing us of the steps you have taken to correct the items which we brought to your attention.

In order to clarify your intended corrective actions in your response to Violation A, telephone conversations were held between members of your staff and this office on February

and 26, 1992.

As a result of these discussions, we understand that you intend to submit a revised response "to Violation A.

In your response to the Notice of Violation, you denied Violation B.

Based on the additional information supplied as Attachment 2 to your response, which was not available during the inspection, it appears that you had previously reported torque switch chattering under

CFR 21 in 1984.

We have reviewed your reason for denial and have concluded that the violation will be withdrawn.

No response to this letter is necessary, unless there are any discrepancies in our understanding of your actions as outlined in this letter.

Your corrective actions will be verified in a future inspection.

Your cooperation with us is appreciated.

Sincerely, t
