NOTICE OF VIOLATION (NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-456/97022(DRP); 50-457/97022(DRP))
Dear Mr. Kingsley:
This will acknowledge receipt of your letter dated March 23,1998, in response to cur letter dated February 20,1998, transmitting a Notice of Violation associated with inspection r<eport No. 50-456/97022(DRP); 50-457/97022(DRP). We have reviewed your correct;ve actions and have no further questions at this time.
Based on discussions with your staff, we want to clarify your response to the violation for the failure to take corrective actions to preclude repetition of mechanical failures of the Feedwater Check Valves 1/2FWO79A thru D. It is our understanding that your staff will perform inspections of Feedwater Check Valves 1FWO79A,1FWO798,1FWO79C, and 1FWO79D during the Unit i refueling outage scheduled to begin in September 1998; will perform inspections of Feedwater Check Valves 2FWO79A,2FWO798, and 2FWO79C during the Unit 2 refueling outage scheduled to begin in the spring of 1999; and will review at least 10 maintenance procedures prior to the next Unit i refueling outage that will ensure that acceptance criteria and required actions are property documented. These corrective actions will be examined during future inspections.
