Docket No.

50-410 Mr. B. Ralph Sylvia Executive Vice President - Nuclear Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station P.O. Box 63 Lycoming, New York 13093

Dear Mr. Sylvia:

SUBJECT:

INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-410/93-81 (REPLY)

This refers to your May 27, 1994, correspondence, in response to our letter, dated March 22, 1994, regarding Nine Mile Point Unit 2 electrical distribution system functional inspection (EDSFI).

Thank you for informing us of the corrective and preventive actions for the three unresolved items identified during the EDSFI:

1) the total harmonic distortion for the uninterruptible power supply units exceeded 5% of the fundamental; 2) emergency diesel generator (EDG)

fuel oil inventory calculations were incomplete; and 3) the EDG test loads exceeded the EDG rating.

We consider these actions acceptable pending further review in a future inspection of your licensed program.

Your cooperation with us is appreciated.

Sincerely, William H. Ruland, Chief Electrical Section Division of Reactor Safety 9'40823001Z 940817 PDR ADOCK 05000
