SUBJECT:
ACCEPTANCE OF WHITE FINDING AND NOTICE OF VIOLATION - NRC SPECIAL INSPECTION REPORT 05000298/2007007 - COOPER NUCLEAR STATION
Dear Mr. Minahan:
Thank you for your letter dated October 15, 2007, in response to our August 17, 2007, letter and Notice of Violation concerning failing to promptly identify and correct, to preclude recurrence, of a significant condition adverse to quality regarding a defective voltage regulator circuit board used in Emergency Diesel Generator 2. The significance of this finding was determined to be White, a finding with low to moderate safety significance. We have reviewed your reply and find it responsive to the concerns raised in our Notice of Violation.
Based on the guidance in Inspection Manual Chapter (IMC) 0305, the NRC staff will perform a 95001, Supplemental Inspection for One or Two White Inputs in a Strategic Performance Area. This inspection is scheduled for the week of December 3, 2007. We will review the implementation of your corrective actions during this inspection to determine that full compliance has been achieved and will be maintained.
Sincerely,
/RA/
