SUBJECT: NOTICE OF VIOLATION (NRC INSPECTION REPORTS 50-295/98003(DRS);
50-304/98003(DRS))
This will acknowledge receipt of your letter dated March 6,1998, in response to our letter dated February 6,1998, transmitting a Notice of Violation associated with the failure of personnel to adequately implement radiation control procedures at the Zion Generating Station, Units 1 and 2. Specifically, a radiation protection technician and two security personnel failed to adequately implement procedures covering the calibration of radiation monitoring equipment and the survey of materials for unconditional release. In your letter, you indicated that your staff counseled the individuals involved in these incidents and implemented additional controls to prevent future violations in these areas. We have reviewed your corrective actions and have no further questions at this time. These corrective actions will be examined during future inspections.
