Dear Mr.O'Reilly:

TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY-BROWNS PERRY NUCLEAR PLANT UNIT 2-DOCKET NO, 50-260-PACILITY OPERATING LICENSE DPR-52-SUPPLEMENTAL ZNPO1NATION TO REPORTABLE OCCURRENCE REPORT BFRO-50-260/7821 This letter is to provide you with supplemental followup information to my letter dated December 21, 1978, The referenced licensee event report (LER)dealt with hydrogen sensor failure ia the suppression chamber of Browns Perry unit 2~At the time BPRO-50-260/7821 was written, specific failure data was not available; therefore, we committed to supply the failure data when available.

Subsequent investigation has showa the sensor to have high ground leakage, vhich resulted ia low signal output. An isolation amplifier was installed under design change request 1675 which eliminated the leakage such that proper calibration was performed on the sensor, snd the system was declared operable at 1500 hours0.0174 days
0.417 hours
0.00248 weeks
5.7075e-4 months
on December 8, 1978.Purther plans are to replace the hydrogen sensor at the next unit 2 outage of sufficieat length.Very truly yours, TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY H.S.Pox Director of Power Production cc: Director (3)Office of Management Information and Program Control U.S.Nuclear Regulatory Commissi Washington, D.C.20555 Director (40)Office of Inspection and Enforcement U.S.Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C.20555 v~~oxogot t'I An="auz!~aportun!t I K~"ever t'
