A meeting was held as a followup to an initial meeting held on October 18, 1993, to discuss changes and challenges to the radiation protection programs at the Commonwealth Edison Dresden, LaSalle, and Quad Cities stations. The focus of this meeting was to understand the involvement of the newly appointed Technical Services Superintendents at each of the stations and their role in addressing radiation protection problems at each of the facilities. Recent trends with respect to the radiation protection programs at the BWR facilities indicate major involvement is warranted by senior level managemen Topics discussed included the Technical Services Superintendent's role and commitment to the radiation protection program, the establishment of measuring tools created by the licensee to ascertain performance, and the presentation of a recently developed Region III benchmark for RPM and management time spent in the radiologically controlled areas of each station. Overall, the meeting helped to establish the framework under which each of the stations would determine the effectiveness of their respective radiation protection programs and future plans were discussed to continue this type of meeting and information exchang _,

Topics of focus included a presentation by each RPM on the current status of their radiation protection program This presentation was followed by comments from each of the station's newly appointed Technical Services Superintendents to whom the RPMs directly repor The Superintendents presented their plans of heightened involvement with the radiation protection programs, and briefly discussed recently developed metrics to assess program performance.

DRESDEN - The development of a partnership agreement with bargaining unit personnel and management to create a more unified involvement in addressing problems with contamination control, training, job reviews, and work contro t LASALLE - The RPM and Technical Superintendent will take*an active role in one-on-one meetings with all department personnel to clearly define expectations and responsibilities of all their staf QUAD CITIES - A focus to integrate radiation protection in all departments. A "catch-basin" monitoring program has been instituted to follow leak reduction efforts. The radiation protection program will have more of a presence at the station's Technical Review Boar All stations indicated that they would be sending both management and bargaining unit personnel to review specific programmatic strengths at other nuclear facilitie NRC staff provided their comments on the problems discussed and presented a recently developed expectation policy on RPM and other management time spent in the radiologically controlled areas of their plan It was agreed by all in attendance that this type of meeting was very beneficial and that such meetings should continue in the futur *
