Progress Energy Crystal River Nuclear Plant Docket No. 50-302 Operating License No. DPR-72 Ref: 10CFR50, Appendix E August 13, 2010 3F0810-02 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attn: Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555-0001

Subject:

Crystal River Unit 3 - Emergency Response Data System

Dear Sir:

The purpose of this letter is to provide a 30 day report to the NRC required by 10CFR50, Appendix E, Section VI.3.a. A software change has been implemented that added one (1) new parameter to the Emergency Response Data System (ERDS) Data Point Library for Progress Energy Florida, Inc., Crystal River Unit 3 (CR-3).

While evaluating INPO Operating Experience (OE) 29133 on ERDS, an unrelated condition was identified where liquid effluent radiation monitor RM-L7, Secondary Plant Discharge Liquid, was not included in the CR-3 ERDS Data Point Library. 10CFR50, Appendix E, Section VI.2.a.i, lists the selected plant data points to be included in the ERDS Data Point Library for Pressurized Water Reactors. Under Radiation Monitoring System, effluent radiation monitors are listed as selected plant parameters. RM-L7 measures the gross gamma activity of the discharge path from the condensate demineralizer regeneration neutralization tank to the discharge canal and direct releases of condensate to the discharge canal. Therefore, RM-L7 meets the criteria for being included in the CR-3 ERDS Data Point Library. On July 22, 2010, Data Point W356 was added to the CR-3 ERDS Data Point Library for RM-L7. No other omissions were identified during the review of the CR-3 ERDS Data Point Library.

No new regulatory commitments are contained in this letter.

If you have any questions regarding this submittal, please contact Mr. Dan Westcott, Superintendent, Licensing and Regulatory Programs at (352) 563-4796.

Sincerely, Mrl Rigs~by Manager Support , - Nuclear Crystal River Nuclear Plant MDR/dwh
