| Title | Failure to Adequately Protect Safety Related Equipment from Internal Flooding |
| Description | The inspectors identified a finding of very low safety significance and associated Non-Cited Violation of 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix B, Criterion III, Design Control, for failure to ensure safety-related equipment would be adequately protected from internal flooding. Specifically, the licensee failed to adequately evaluate the volume of water originating from a postulated crack in service water (SW) piping within the control complex. This finding was entered into the licensees corrective action program. The corrective actions included performing additional analyses, establishing compensatory measures, issuing procedure orders, and revising operating procedures. The performance deficiency was determined to be more than minor because it was associated with the Initiating Events cornerstone attribute of Equipment Performance and affected the cornerstone objective of limiting the likelihood of events that upset plant stability and challenge critical safety functions during shutdown as well as power operations. Based on the Phase III Analysis, the inspectors determined the finding was of very low safety significance (Green). The inspectors determined the cause of this finding did not represent current licensee performance and no cross-cutting aspect was assigned. |
