Individual Rod Position Indications - 1D4, 1D3, 2D2, and 2D3 - Inoperable.

This report was initiated by incident report 81-355.

CONDITIONS PRIOR TO OCCURRENCE:

Mode 1 - Rx Power 99% - Unit Load 1020 MWe DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:

On September 1, 1981, the control operator noticed that the individual rod position indicator (IRPI) and the control rod bank demand indicator for rods 1D4, 1D3, 2D2, and 2D3 were in disagreement by greater than 12 steps.

The IRPIs were declared inoperable at 1635 hours0.0189 days <br />0.454 hours <br />0.0027 weeks <br />6.221175e-4 months <br /> and action statement 3.1.3.1.b was entered.

This occurrence constituted operation in a degraded mcde in accordance with technical specification 6.9.1.9.b.

DESIGNATION OF APPARENT CAUSE OF OCCURRENCE:

The IRPIs had drifted out of calibration.
