Pressurizer Level Channel 1 - Inoperable This report was initiated by Incident Report 81-339.

CONDITIONS PRIOR TO OCCURRENCE:

Mode 1 - Rx Power 27% - Unit Load 190 MWe l

DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:

On August 23, 1981, an operator noticed that the channel 1 pressurizer level was reading 4% lower than the other two channels.

At 1100 hours0.0127 days <br />0.306 hours <br />0.00182 weeks <br />4.1855e-4 months <br /> the channel was declared inoperable, and limiting condition for operation (LCO) 3.3.1, action 7 was entered.

This occurrence constituted operation in a degraded mode in accordance with technical specification 6.9.1.9.b.

I DESIGNATION OF APPARENT CAUSE OF OCCURRENCE:

The channel 1 transmitter had drifte6 out of calibration.

ANALYSIS OF OCCURRENCE:

LCO 3.3.1, action 7 requires:

With the number of operable channels one less than the total number of channels, start-up and/or power operation may proceed until performance of the next required channel functional test provided the inoperable channel is placed in the tripped condition within 1 hour1.157407e-5 days <br />2.777778e-4 hours <br />1.653439e-6 weeks <br />3.805e-7 months <br />.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

The channel 1 pressurizer level bistable was placed in the tripped condition within one hour.

Channel 1 transmitter 2LT-549 was recalibrated, tested satisfactorily, and returned to service.

At 1400 hours0.0162 days <br />0.389 hours <br />0.00231 weeks <br />5.327e-4 months <br />, August 26, 1981, LCO 3.3.1, action 7 was terminated.
