Auxiliary Feed Storage Tank -- Low Level.

- This. report =was initiated by Incident Report 81-238.

CONDITIONS PRIOR TO' OCCURRENCE:

Mode 3 - Rx. Power 0% - Unit' Load 0 MWe DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRE.

On July-8, 1981, the. auxiliary feed storage tank, level dropped-below

- 200,000 gallons due:to lack >r demineralized water available-for' makeup.

The-demineralized water stortge tank levels were 14% andol2% in' tanks'-

No. 1 and No. 2 respectively. -Action statement 3.7.1.3.a was entered.

- DESIGNATION OF APPARENT CAUSE OF OCCURRENCE:

Personnel error.

An erroneous' decision was made not to maintain-the auxiliary feed' storage tank level due'to low levels in:the demineralized-water. storage tanks.

ANALYSIS OF-OCCURRENCE:

Technical specification 3.7.1.3.a requires:

l The auxiliary-feed storage tank shall be operable with-a volume of at least 200,000 gallons of water.
