| Title | Failure to Supply Suitable Materials for Diesel Generator Control Cabinets |
| Description | The inspectors documented a self-revealing noncited violation of 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix B, Criterion III, Design Control, in response to a leak of diesel fuel oil into an enclosure containing electrical equipment. Specifically, the licensee failed to supply equipment suitable for the required application under existing environmental conditions. This violation has been entered into the licensees corrective action program as Condition Report 2008-1082. The finding was more than minor because it was associated with the availability/reliability of equipment performance attribute of the mitigating systems cornerstone, and it directly affected the cornerstone objective to ensure the availability, reliability and capability of systems that respond to initiating events to prevent undesirable consequences. Using the Manual Chapter 0609, Significance Determination Process, Phase 1 Screening Worksheet, the issue screened as having very low safety significance because it was a design deficiency confirmed not to result in a loss of operability or safety function.
