NRC STAFF PLANS WORKSHOP ON OPERATOR LICENSING KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES CATALOGS The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will hold two public workshops August 2-4 to discuss draft revisions to the Knowledge and Abilities (K/A) catalogs used by NRC examiners to construct and administer operator license examinations in accordance with the requirements of Part 55 of the NRC's regulations.

At the workshops, NRC staff representatives will present an overview of the K/A catalog review and revision process and the changes that are being proposed. NRC regional and headquarters operator licensing staff will participate in the discussions.

Each workshop will conclude with a summary of the major issues and proposed resolutions identified during the discussions.

The first workshop will address the proposed changes to the "Knowledge and Abilities Catalog for Nuclear Power Plant Operators: Pressurized Water Reactors" (NUREG-1122) and will be held from 8:00 a.m. on August 2 through 12 Noon on August 3.

The second workshop, addressing "Knowledge and Abilities Catalog for Nuclear Power Plant Operators: Boiling Water Reactors" (NUREG-1123), will be held from 1:00 p.m. on August 3 through 5 p.m. on August 4.

All interested parties are invited to attend the workshops and are encouraged to ask questions about and make comments on the proposed revisions to the documents. Written comments received from interested parties unable to attend the workshops will be considered through August 15.
