UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 January 22, 2015 Vice President, Operations Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc.

Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station P.O. Box 250 Governor Hunt Road Vernon, VT 05354

SUBJECT:

VERMONT YANKEE NUCLEAR POWER STATION- CORRECTION AND REOPENING OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD FOR PERMANENTLY DEFUELED EMERGENCY PLAN AND EMERGENCY ACTION LEVEL SCHEME CHANGE AMENDMENT REQUEST {TAC NO. MF4279)

Dear Sir or Madam:

On December 9, 2014, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) published a proposed no significant hazards consideration determination for public comment and the opportunity to request a hearing and petition for leave to intervene in the Federal Register (79 FR 731 09).

This action was in response to your application dated June 12, 2014 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML14168A302}, to revise the site emergency plan and Emergency Action Level scheme to reflect the reduced scope of offsite and onsite emergency planning and the significantly reduced spectrum of credible accidents that can occur for the permanently defueled condition for Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station.

The Federal Register notice requested public comments by January 8, 2015. Due to requests from concerned stakeholders for additional time to provide comments, the public comment period has been reopened until February 9, 2015. This letter is a correction to the previously issued letter dated January 8, 2015, because the previous Federal Register notice was not issued. The new Federal Register notice is enclosed.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact me at (301) 415-4125.

Sincerely, James Kim, Project Manager Plant Licensing IV-2 and Decommissioning Transition Branch Division of Operating Reactor Licensing Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Docket No. 50-271
