- 1) ULNRC-05830 dated December 15,2011 2) NRC Letter, "Request for Additional Information for the Review of the Callaway Plant, Unit 1, License Renewal Application , Set 30 (TAC No. ME7708)," dated February 12 , 2014 3) ULNRC-06057 dated December 20,2013 4) ULNRC-06072 dated January 16 , 2014 5) ULNRC-06080 dated February 14, 2014 By the Reference 1 letter, Union Electric Company (Ameren Missouri) submitted a license renewal application (LRA) for Callaway Plant Unit 1. Reference 2 dated February 12, 2014 transmitted the thirtieth (30) Request for Additional Information (RAI) related to our application.
Enclosure 1 contains Ameren Missouri's partial response to the February 12, 2014 RAI regarding clevis insert bolts. Information is provided regarding the Callaway clevis design and 2013 inspection results. There are no changes to the LRA associated with this response.
Additional supporting information related to materials and heat treatment methods used in the Callaway clevis insert bolts and future inspection plans are anticipated to be submitted by April 4 , 2014. Fulton, MO 65251 AmerenMissouri.com Alliance ULNRC-06090 March 13, 2014 Page2 Also included in Enclosure 1 is an updated response to RAI B2.1.6-4d, part (b), which includes an additional early plant life fuel cycle that did not meet the heat generation figure of merit limit. The overall conclusions of the RAI response are not affected.
Reference 4 submitted the original response to RAI B2.1.6-4d, part (b) and Reference 5 closed the commitment (Table A4-1 Commitment
- 43) made in Reference 4, to update the Callaway core design procedure.
Enclosure 2 contains LRA Amendment 32 and provides the following changes to the LRA: 1. Supplements to RAI responses provided in Amendment 28 (Reference 3): a. RAI 3.0.3-4, update to Table 3.2.2-5 to restore a cracking Aging Management Review (AMR) line item for stainless steel aboveground metallic tanks, b. RAI 3.0.3-5, revision to Aging Management Program (AMP) B2.1.21 to reference LR ISG 2012-02 in the AMP consistency statement, c. Revise LRA Appendix A1.23 and Appendix B2.1.23 to state that M38 Internal Surfaces AMP inspections will occur as a minimum every ten years during the period of extended operation.
- 2. Incorporate minor changes or typographical corrections in the following LRA Tables for LRA Amendment 28 (Reference 3): a. LRA Table 3.3-1 Auxiliary Systems: items 128, 129, and 137 to clarify the discussion for aboveground metallic tanks, b. LRA Table 3.3.2-4 Essential Service Water System: Corrected plant note for the loss of material in carbon steel piping AMR line, c. LRA Table 3.3.2-26 Oily Waste System: Corrected Table 1 reference for loss of material AMR lines for stainless steel pump, d. LRA Table 3.4-1 Steam and Power Conversion Systems: item 12 to clarify the discussion for aboveground metallic tanks. The item 12 change required a revision to LRA Table 3.4.2-4 to reference an equivalent NUREG-1801 item for the steam generator blowdown flash tank. Also corrected typographical errors for Table 3.4-1 items 61 through 65. It should be noted that there are no changes to commitments contained in this transmittal.
