The winding Cuyahoga-the "crooked river" as named by American Indians-gives way to deep forests, rolling hills, and open farmlands.

Junior Ranger movement. The national park is a great place for growing bodies to get the exercise needed for a healthy, active life. Attend one of our family hikes, or visit the Winter Sports Center for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, and have fun sledding on the Kendall Hills. Lock 27 along the Ohio & Erie Canal became known as Johnnycake Lock after several boats ran aground due to flooding.
