Prcibab le Conseque.r-:es a:':1 Status of _nedun<lnnt S:,::;te;,1:::_: Channel I Pressurizer level was put in the trip r.i.-.:ide. All other pressurizer level instrurnent;:,tion rcmo.ined operable. Because the r,'<1ui red immedinte corrective action,-,as tak~n and the de:>~ee of r,::dun -- c~.::ncy n'.g::iineJ, the henltii ar.1d safety of ths genc:rnl public we-.:-e not affected.

Cauco:': The event was caused by drift of the electronic zero adjustment 1n conjunction with leakage through the transmitter's bypass/equalizing vnlvc.

Im1~cdiate Corrective Action: Imm-2di2.te corrective action taken wa:~ to pluce Channel I Prcssuriz2;~ Level into the trip mod(!. This provided the n~quired degree of reclunclm,c:y in the pressurizer levei instrunrntation.

Subsequent Corrective Action. Subsequently, the zero adjust inpnt voll.~ge,-,as checked and found to be high. Further inspection revealed a leak in the bypass e,1u.:.lizing valve. The valve was tightened and the transmitter was rezeroed. The channel was monitored to verify that the transmitter w2s not drifting. The channel was then returned to service.

Actions Taken to Prevent Recurrence~ No further coriective action will be required. This event 1s con:~~ id ::~tc.:d ,~. rr~nd:-..*.~ c~\\:.*:r~t.
