| Description | The inspectors identified an Unresolved Item (URI) concerning the use of respirator cartridges within the radiologically controlled area. The licensee utilizes various types of respiratory protection devices to limit the intake of radioactive material within the radiologically controlled area. During a walkdown of the respiratory protection devices, it was noticed that some respirator cartridges had manufacture dates in the mid-to-late 1990s. The inspectors questioned the effectiveness of these cartridges with respect to the long storage time. This issue is categorized as an URI pending completion of the NRC review of the issue (URI 05000341/2013003-02, Respirator Cartridge Storage Life). |
