GENERIC LETTER 89-06
- SPDS PHOTOGRAPHS SURRY POWER STATION A. GENERAL INFORMATION The SPDS for the Surry Power Station is made up of a series of colorgraphic displays arranged in a hierarchical manner. The three levels of displays consist of the SPDS top level display, six SPDS mid level displays, and 39 parameter vs. time plots. The top level display gives an overview of all six critical safety functions at a glance, while more detail can be obtained on a given safety function as lower levels are accessed. There is one mid level display for each critical safety function and the time dependent behavior of each parameter making up the critical safety function can be obtained from the parameter vs. time plots.
There are two SPDS workstations in the control room for each Surry unit. The Shift Supervisor's console consists of a 19 inch color CRT and keyboard. The Shift Technical Advisor's console consists of two 19 inch CRT's and two keyboards.
The photographs for Surry were taken from Unit 1 with the unit in e full power operation. The SPDS for Unit 2 is identical.to the Unit 1 SPDS.
B. PHOTOGRAPHIC DETAILS The following photographs, identified by number (upper right corner), are provided in this package:
- 1. Control Room overyiew - The Shift Technical Advisor's console is in the foreground and the Shift Supervisor's console is in the background. The Shift Technical Advisor is the primary user of the SPDS during transient.
