UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 August 13, 20nQ Mr. Timothy S. Rausch Senior Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer PPL Susquehanna, LLC 769 Salem Boulevard Berwick, PA 18603-0467 SUB"IECT: SUSQUEHANNA STEAM ELECTRIC STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 CORRECTION LETTER RE: IMPLEMENTATION PERIOD OF ISSUED AMENDMENT NOS. 253 AND 233 (TAC NOS. ME0967 AND ME0968)
Dear Mr. Rausch:
By letter dated March 24, 2009, PPL Susquehanna, LLC (the licensee), requested an amendment to the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, Units 1 and 2, Facility Operating License (FOL) Nos. NPF-14 and NPF-22, to adopt Technical Specification Task Force (TSTF)
Change Traveler-511, Revision 1 using consolidated line item improvement process. On July 13, 2009 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML091730598), the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued the Amendment to Facility Operating License and published the Notice of Issuance in the Federal Register on July 28, 2009 (74 FR 37252).
Because of an inadvertent error, although the application for the license amendments had stated that upon approval, the amendments would be implemented" ... concurrent with implementation of the new 10 CFR 26, Subpart I requirements by October 1, 2009," the issued amendments required that "... shall be implemented within 30 days."
The enclosures to this letter provide the corrected pages 2 of the issued amendments. The safety evaluations and the revisions to the license and technical specifications pages are not affected and remain valid.
- 1. S. Rausch -2 Please contact me at (301 )-415-3308, if you have any questions.
Sincerely, Bhalchandra K. Vaidya, Project Manager Plant Licensing Branch 1-1 Division of Operating Reactor Licensing Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Docket Nos. 50-387 and 50-388
