Document Control Desk Washington, D.C. 20555 LaSalle County Station, Unit 1 Facility Operating License Nos. NPF-1 1 NRC Docket No. 50-373

Subject:

LaSalle County Station Unit 1 Core Shroud Examination in Li R 1I

Reference:

BWRVIP-76, "BWR Vessel and Internals Project, BWR Core Shroud Inspection and Flaw Evaluation Guidelines" The intent of the BWRVIP-76 is to ensure the structural integrity of the core shroud. The referenced document requires that 100% of the accessible areas of the core shroud be examined at specific intervals.

In accordance with BWRVIP guidelines, Exelon Generation Company, LLC, (EGC) is informing the NRC that 100% of the accessible areas of the LaSalle Country Station Unit 1 core shroud was not examined in the Li R 1I outage in February 2006.However, sufficient coverage of the accessible areas were examined, an engineering evaluation was performed and the results indicate the Unit 1 shroud retained sufficient structural margin and should be re-examined in six years. Therefore, the deviation from the guidance of BWRVIP-76 by not examining 100 percent of the accessible areas of welds H6 and H8 is acceptable from a technical perspective.

This letter is being transmitted for information only and EGC is not requesting any action from the NRC staff.Should you have any questions concerning this letter, please contact Mr. Terrence W. Simpkin, Regulatory Assurance Manager, at (815) 415-2800.Respectfully, Ald.- Ad. f Susan R. Landahl Site Vice President LaSalle County Station cc: Regional Administrator
