50-311 SALEM2 02/10/96 R.HELLER 609-339-5162 The following items were evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Code of Federal Regulations 10CFR50.59.

The Station Operations Review Committee has reviewed and concurs with these evaluations.

1. Temporary Modification (TMOD)95-059 "Deenergization Of Both SSPS Trains In Support Of ADFCs" Rev. 0 -This modification allows Containment Radiation Monitoring System (RMS) automatic and manual functions of Containment Verification Isolation terminating the Purge and Pressure/Vacuum Relief System with both SSPS trains in test or deenergized (the 115 VAC to the Output I Test cabinet remains energized) in modes 5 or 6 or when Purge operation is desired. This modification supports the Digital Feedwater design change package, work packages 8.6 and 8.7. As the function, operation and setpoints of Containment RMS automatic and manual Containment Ventilation Isolation actuation have not changed, the margin of safety has not changed. (SORC 95-013)

SALEM GENERATING STATION MONTHLY OPERATING

SUMMARY

-UNIT 2 JANUARY 1996 SALEM UNIT NO. 2 The Unit remained shutdown for the entire period. According to commitments from PSE&G and a subsequent confirmatory action letter from the NRC, the Unit will remain shutdown pending completion of the following actions:

  • Appropriately address long standing equipment reliability and operability issues
  • After the work is completed, conduct a restart readiness review to determine for ourselves the ability of each Unit to operate in a safe, event free manner
  • After the restart review, meet with the NRC and communicate the results of that review
