Attachment1toC1099-07Page2Currentplantdesigndoesnotpermittestingthecontainmentspraypumpsatthedesignflowrate.Theflowcapabilityduringtestingjslimitedbythesizeofthepipingprovidingthefiowpathduringrecirculation.Thislimitationrequiresoperatingthepumpsunderlowflowconditionsandresultsinincreasedlevelsofpumpvibrationduringthetest.OperatingthepumpsinthismannerisundesirablebecauseitcanresultinpumpvibrationexceedingtheASMEcodelimitation,andcanpotentiallycontributetolongtermdegradationofthecontainmentspraypumps.Tocorrectthiscondition,aplantmodificationisbeingimplementedtoprovideincreasedflowcapabilityforthecontainmentspraypumpswhentheyareoperatedfortestinginrecirculation.Thismodificationaffectsthehydrauliccharacteristicoftheflowpaththatisusedwhenthepumpsareoperatedfortestingpurposes.Themodificationpermitsthepumpstobetestedatdesignflowratesandisintendedtoeliminatetheundesirablepumpvibrationassociatedwithpumptestingatreducedflow.ThismodificationisexpectedtoprecludeestablishingthecurrentT/Srequiredtestconditionforthecontainmentspraypump'sdischargepressureofgreaterthanorequalto255psigwithoutrequiringsubstantialthrottlingofthepumpsfiow.Throttlingthepumpstoachievethespecifieddischargepressurenegatesthebenefitofthemodificationthatprovidesdesignflowratetestcapability.Reanalysisoftheeffectsofthesprayadditivesystemonthecontainmentsump'spHunderpost-accidentconditionsisalsobeingperformedtoresolveothercontainmentissuesunrelatedtothemodification.Theinitialevaluationindicatesthatanincreasedmaximumflowratefromthesprayadditivetanktothecontainmentsprayflowpathmaybenecessary.RelocationofthetestparametersfromtheT/StotheassociatedT/SBasespermitstimelyrevisionoftheseparameters,asrequired,uponcompletionoftheanalysesandcalculations.E.DescriptionoftheProposedChangesIAMproposestorelocatethetestparametersandtheacceptancecriteriafromT/SSR4.6.2.2.dtotheassociatedT/SBases.Therevisedsurveillancerequirementspecifiesdemonstratingthesprayadditivesystemisoperable,"...byverifyingtheflowratefromthesprayadditivetanktestlinetoeachcontainmentspraysystemwiththespraypumpoperatingonrecirculation."Editorialchangesaremadeintherelocatedparagraphforclarityandforgrammaticalcompleteness.I&Misalsoproposingcertainformatchangesaffectingeachpageincludeminordifferencesinmarginsandtextspacingduetovariationsinwordprocessingandreprographictechnologies.InadditiontherearespecificformatchangesaffectingtheUnit2basespageB3/46-3.Thesespecificchangesinclude(1)theuseofadifferentfontwhichalsoresultsinalteredspacingofthetextonthepageandcontentforeachlineoftext,(2)theuseofhorizontalbarstoseparatethefooterandheaderfromthebodyofthepage,(3)theadditionofnumericalannotation(i.e.,3/4and3/4.6intheheadertextlines),(4)theremovalofunderliningfromthetwolinesofheadertext,(5)thereversalofsequenceanddeletionofablanklinebetweenthe'wolinesofheader
