The NRC granted the company a license in August 2003 to operate an irradiator at its cold storage facility. In April of this year, CFC Logistics sent a letter to the NRC informing the agency of itsdecision to cease activities and decommission the irradiator. In May, the cobalt-60 sealed radioactive sources were removed from the irradiator and shi pped to MDS Nordion in Canada. An NRC inspectorperformed an inspection on May 17, 18 and June 10 th at the company's facilities. In addition toreviewing the circumstances of the removal and shipment of the sources, the inspector performedradiation surveys to confirm there was no residual radiation at the site. In a letter dated June 22, the NRC terminated the license and released the facility for unrestricted use.
