No: II-16-002 February 4, 2016 CONTACT: Roger Hannah 404-997-4417 Joey Ledford 404-997-4416 NRC Names New Senior Resident Inspector for North Anna Nuclear Power Station Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in Atlanta have selected Gregory Croon as the senior resident inspector for North Anna nuclear power plant, located near Mineral, Va., about 40 miles northwest of Richmond. Croon joins Resident Inspector Gwynne Eatmon at the site. Croon joined the NRC in August 2011 as a project engineer in the Region II Division of Reactor Projects in Atlanta. Before taking this position at North Anna, he was a resident inspector at the Oconee Nuclear Station in South Carolina. Prior to joining the NRC, Croon served nine years in the U.S. Air Force as a nuclear research officer and 12 years in the private sector conducting research, reactor safety analyses and plant systems engineering. Most recently, he served nine years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, including two years as a resident engineer in Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Croon holds a bachelors degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Illinois and a the Air Force Institute of Technology. At least two NRC resident inspectors are assigned to each operating U.S. commercial nuclear power plant. They serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring major work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public.
