Dave Gasperson,404-997-4417 NRC Names New Senior Resident Inspector at North Anna Nuclear Power Plant

Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in Atlanta have selected Kenya Carrington as the agency's new senior resident inspector at Dominion's North Anna nuclear power plant, located near Mineral, Virginia, approximately40 miles northwest of Richmond.

Carrington most recently was the resident inspector at the North Anna plant. She joined the NRC in 2010, qualifying as a reactor operations inspector in the Region III o ffice in Lisle, Illinois. Carrington served as a resident inspector at Quad Cities nuclear power station inCordova, Illinois, and the Vogtle nuclear power units under construction near Waynesboro, Georgia.

"Kenya has excelled at each challenging assignment she's accepted, including supporting the NRC's construction inspections at the country's two newest nuclear power plants," said NRC Region II Administrator Laura Dudes. "Her recent experience as the resident inspector at North Anna and over 10 years of regulatory experience make her the ideal person for this role."

Carrington holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Wilberforce University.

The NRC assigns at least two resident inspectors to each operating U.S. commercial nuclear power plant. They serve as the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections, monitoring plant operations, major work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public.
