Roger Hannah, 404-997-4417 Joey Ledford, 404-997-4416 NRC Names Senior Resident Inspector at North Anna Nuclear Plant Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in Atlanta have selected Margaret (Maggie) Tobin as the agencys senior resident inspector at Dominions North Anna nuclear power plant, located near Mineral, Va., about 40 miles northwest of Richmond.
She joins NRC Resident Inspector Gwynne Eatmon at the two-unit site.
Tobin began work at the NRC as a reliability and risk engineer in the agencys Rockville, Md., headquarters working on many risk computer models. Tobin moved to the NRC Region IV Office in Texas as a project engineer while working towards becoming a resident inspector.
She was most recently the resident inspector at the Arkansas Nuclear One plant. She was assigned to that site shortly after that plant had come under increased NRC oversight and worked on many of the related inspections.
Tobin graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelors degree in electrical engineering. In college, she worked summers at the Beaver Valley nuclear plant in Pennsylvania analyzing electrical circuitry diagrams for potential fire hazards.
Each operating U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting regular inspections, monitoring significant work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public. Inspectors can serve for up to seven years at any one site.
The NRC resident inspectors at the North Anna plant can be reached at 404-997-5190.
