Re: St.Lucie Unit I Docket No.50-335 Proposed License Amendment Active Fuel Len th In accordance with IO CFR 50.90, Florida Power 8 Light Company (FPL)submits herewith three signed originals and forty copies of a request to amend Facility Operating License DPR-67.The proposed amendment changes the nominal active fuel length for reactor core fuel assemblies specified in St.Lucie Unit I Technical Specification 5.3.l.The purpose of this change is to permit the loading of fuel with a nominal active fuel length of between l34.I and l36.7 inches.The amended active fuel length requirements will permit the use of a fuel rod design that is more resistant to fretting type failures than the present design.A marked up copy of the affected Technical Specification page is included as Attachment I.A Safety Evaluation in support of the proposed amendment is included as Attachment 2.A"Determination of No Significant Hazards Consideration" is provided as Attachment 3.The proposed amendment has been reviewed by the St.Lucie Facility Review Group and the Florida Power&Light Company Nuclear Review Board.In accordance with IO CFR 50.9I(b)(l), a copy of the proposed amendment is being forwarded to the state designee for the State of Florida.PDR"4 861027,'BhgO@8~~9<<osoooaaq''
