The license renewal application (LRA) was submitted pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 54, Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants. The staff determined that the LRA was complete and acceptable for docketing on March 10, 2008. | ||
Since that time, the staff has reviewed the TMI-1 LRA, issued requests for additional information (RAIs), reviewed the applicants responses to the staffs RAIs, developed a safety evaluation report (SER) with open items, and reviewed the applicants comments on the SER with open items. The SER with open items was discussed at an Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) subcommittee meeting on April 1, 2009. On the basis of this review, the staff has developed the enclosed SER to document its findings associated with the safety review of the LRA and supporting documentation for TMI-1. | |||

Dear Mr. Gallagher:
By letter dated January 8, 2008, AmerGen Energy Company, LLC (AmerGen or the applicant),
(now Exelon Generation Company, LLC) (Exelon or the applicant), submitted, for the U.S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRC or staff) review, an application to renew the Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1, (TMI-1) operating license for up to an additional 20 years.
