THREE MILE ISLAND NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT NO. 2 - ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT/FINDING OF NO SIGNFICANT IMPACT-REQUEST FOR EXEMPTION FROM 10 CFR 70.24 (EPID: L-2023-LLE-0003)
Dear John Sauger:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC, or Commission) has completed its environmental review of the request for exemption from the requirements of Section 70.24 Criticality Accident Requirements, of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR), as requested in TMI-2 Solutions, LLCs (TMI-2 Solutions, or Licensee) letter dated September 29, 2022, attachment 2, (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS)
Accession No. ML22276A024). If the exemption request is approved, it will eliminate certain criticality accident monitoring and emergency procedures that are no longer necessary at Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit No. 2.
Please find the Environmental Assessment/Finding of No Significant Impact (EA/FONSI) for this request in the enclosure. A copy of this EA/FONSI will be sent to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390, Public inspections, exemptions, requests for withholding, of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records component of NRCs ADAMS. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC website.
